About

My name is Adrian Swansbury and I run Swansbury Wood Finishing.  I started my working career at Ercol, in High Wycombe, in 1984.  I completed my apprenticeship in 1988.  I worked at Ercols for 7 years, leaving in 1995.  This is when I started working for Woodcraft Reproduction Furniture, in Princes Risborough.  It was here that I learned a considerable amount, gaining lots of experience about the furniture trade and wood in general.

I returned to Ercol for a brief period in 1999.  During this period I started doing a few furniture repairs, for friends at first, in my spare time.  This led to more and more work coming in and things seemed to snow-ball.  In 2003 I made the decision that I had enough work to enable myself to be Self-Employed and started to work from my shed, in the garden, and slowly began to build my customer base.

In 2004 I started renting a small unit in Longwick, as the business had grown.  After a year or so I had out-grown this unit and relocated, to a bigger unit, near Oxford.
I have since moved again; to the premises I am in now.  I moved here in 2009 and this unit, which is in Chinnor, is very spacious with plenty of room for working and storage.  We have a nice spray booth and drying room and a separate co-joined area for storing awaiting work.

To date I have four people working with me full time and one part time worker.  We have two full size spray booths which are in constant use. We have around 2000 square feet of working/storage space at the unit, plus extra storage space at another location.  My customer base is quite large and seems to be growing all the time.
